Among all the systems of meditation in the world, Mahamudra is considered the foremost in teaching the very heart-essence of the Buddha’s teaching. Key points that you will learn during this retreat are what is the practice of the Yoga of One-pointedness; how personal insight and self-discovery is acquired through the Yoga of Non-proliferation; what is the extraordinary path of the Yoga of One-taste; and how one attained the Yoga of Non-meditation? These are the four distinct steps or programs of meditation that encapsulate the whole of the Mahamudra method. It is this unique path of concentration, thoughtfulness, compassionate conduct and self-reflection by which spiritually motivated Yogis and Yoginis in Asia have over the centuries attained awakening on the path of enlightenment; a path, needless to say, that is quite suitable to all, particularly in the modern world, and which everyone is capable of practicing, without requiring particular religious beliefs or restrictions.
The retreat is lead by Lama Rodney P. Devenish, a practitioner who studied the full scope of Mahamudra at the feet of several advanced Ka’gyu Lamas, including Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche, and the fully realized master Kyabje Namgyal Rinpoche. Lama Rodney is capable of making this path easily understandable to you, in a very human and meaningful way.
