Help us help the world become a better place.
The purpose of the Hermitage is to supply a venue for the Teaching and Practice of Meditation.
Why are venues for the teaching and practice of meditation important in the world today? People who learn and practice meditation are noticably helped and transformed by the process; their lives, and hence the life of society in general, is thereby improved, as shown in recent studies. Realistic growth-changes (known as 'neuroplasticity') in the human brain, as well as research into the powerful psychophysical benefits of meditation, are showing the extent to which contemplative practices support human life for the better. At the Herrmitage we have created an appropriate environment separated from the strains of town and city life, amidst the quietude of Nature, where really meaningful meditation and yoga practice can be carried out, supported by the presence of Buddhist monastics.
This is an appeal to those who really appreciate what the Hermitage stands for; what it adds to the betterment of people and society.
We need your support. The Hermitage of the Dharma Fellowship does not survive without the input of a continuous flow of generous contributions. To keep our accommodation and program fees low, and to make the Center available to as many people as possible, we depend upon support from individuals like you.
The amount doesn't matter: some give generously, adding up to thousands of dollars, according to their ability – others can only afford no more than 20 bucks. Every little bit helps.
Regular, even if small, contributions are extremely helpful.
You can also serve residential monastics at the Hermitage by becoming a personal patron for one or more of them. To be a personal patron means to donate money for the living expenses of such a person, i.e., for a Buddhist nun or monk in retreat, undergoing training, or who is serving the community, and who needs your financial help.
